It's Valentines Day Soon, So A Good Old Excuse To Take A Romantic UK Short Break
Now with Valentines Day but a matter of a few weeks away, thoughts of romance are in the air.
It's pretty much one of the only times during the year when I do put a bit of effort into spending a bit of time away with my husband.
We have been very lucky with some of the places we have stayed at in the past. UK Short breaks can be fantastic, but you do have to be careful that you don’t get ripped off.
For instance last year we stayed at a few different hotels in Wales. They varied so much in comfort and style, that this year I have decided that I want to stay at a nice cosy cottage instead, where it will just be the 2 of us.
Already I have done some research into where to stay. I have searched on various search engines for cottage holidays in Wales, weekend breaks in Wales, holiday cottages Wales, etc. etc.
Some of the places I have found have been absolutely fantastic and there are some great cottages out there to rent. Mind you, I would really advise caution when booking. You really must make sure that you read all the terms and conditions when booking your cottage, otherwise you might end up being charged for more than you bargained for.
For instance there was one company in particular who charged extra for everything including electric, gas, firewood for the open fire, towels, bedding and so the list continued. I couldn’t believe that companies actually charge for bedding. If I am staying away and already paying money for their property, I don’t expect to have to pay extra for linen.
As of yet I haven’t actually got anything booked.
It doesn’t look like it is going to be a great Valentines Day for me this year. In our house at the moment, there is a bit of a heated discussion going on about where to actually go. I am especially fond of the Brecon Beacon area of Wales. There is an abundance of open space and in my experience the Welsh people are lovely people.
On the other hand hubby loves Scotland because he gets to play his precious golf, so unless there is a compromise to be found, I can see our romantic break will not be anything of the sort!
