Straight Line Curtains.
Start by measuring your windows. When deciding how long your curtains should be, measure the curtain rod to the floor, and then add the depth of the pocket plus 1/2 inch and the hem plus 1/2 inch. To determine how wide you want the fabric to be, measure the width of each window and then add an additional six inches; this will produce one curtain panel. Every window will need two panels. Take notice of the direction of the fabric's print when selecting your fabric, and be certain that it will go with other elements of the room.
As you prepare your panel, first hem the sides of each panel. With the right side facing down, fold 1/2 inch of fabric towards you and iron. Next, fold 1 1/2 inches of fabric toward you to form the hem and then iron into position. Now sew a straight line down each edge of each panel to hem. Fold over 1/2 inch on the top edge and iron, and then fold over a pocket for the curtain rod. Now iron and sew another straight line on each panel. Moving to the lower hem, fold the material over 1/2 inch and then fold over the width of the hem; iron once more. Sew your straight line across the bottom hem of each panel, and your curtain panels are completed. It really is that easy.
Straight Line Table Skirt.
Cover your bedside table with a table skirt for a dressy look. Choose a fabric that complements the drapes that you just finished. Lend your room a less cluttered look by using table skirting to hide items beneath the table. Merely cut the fabric to the right size, turn under the hem, and then sew.

Attach the bed skirt piece to the flat sheet taking care to line up the corner seams with the corners of the flat sheet. If you prefer to leave the bed skirt panels open, then you can hem each side before attaching.
