Decorating With Centerpieces: Advice For The Newbie
Centerpieces get attention to specific locations within your home that you want guests to take notice of, such as jerseys, ornaments and decorations. Centerpieces are intended to attract attention, but some people tend to misuse these items by surrounding them with other unnecessary ornaments. A typical mistake made by most people is they crowd the centerpiece with pictures of their family members or extra ornaments, or hang the item on an off-colored wall. Please note, you want to draw attention to an area of your room with the centerpiece so individuals will be left saying “Oh, how nice” instead of thinking to themselves “Oh, how weird.”
Table Centerpieces with Tablecloths
Around the holidays, women like to decorate their dining room tables with some color, and often, they enjoy placing a tablecloth over their kitchen table, with some even adding a centerpiece to coordinate with the tablecloth. Place your tablecloth and set your centerpiece on top and ask yourself, “Does this product coordinate with a holiday theme? For instance, a brightly-colored glass ornament belonging to a family at a dinner table will not go well with a bright-colored tablecloth; instead, a dark-hue tablecloth will contrast and go better with the colors of the ornament.
Flag Cases
Most families honor their fallen family members with flag cases, and these cases often act as the center of attention for tables, ledges and on top of cabinets. Normally, most cases come with an engraving of either The U.S. Great Seal on the glass or have an engraving done on a metal placard with the name of the individual and years he lived. It is often great to place the following three items next to the flag case: candles, a photo of the fallen, or a medal or emblem of some type. Not all decorations that you place next to the flag case will look proper; for instance, if you place various pictures next to the case, it will look awkward, and even if you place a lamp next to it, it should be just a single bulb projecting light downward onto the case.
Shadow Boxes for Jerseys
One awesome feature about jersey cases, specifically shadow boxes, is that they will protect a jersey from dust; they can also draw attention to one area of the living room. It is often a good idea to surround the jersey with decorations relating to the team the person plays for or the sport he is in, such as placing a photo of a well-known stadium next to the jersey. If you want, you can also surround the jersey with other sports jerseys; however, you want to stick to a uniform theme and not place a photo of your family next to the jersey.
