What is the etiquette of giving souviniers as birthday or Christmas gifts?
My mother-in-law and sister-in-law are famous for this (they are just alike.) I don't want to sound selfish or materialistic but I don't want a bunch of junk. I would rather not have anything at all. My birthday was a few weeks ago - I got a bright orange bag with Key West on it, a Key West spoon rest, an obnoxious smelling Key West candle and to top it off, an onion keeper which looks like a big plastic onion and you open it to put in onions. Umm... really I would rather have nothing. I really don't think they were left overs, she really did mean to buy me that junk for my birthday. Do you think this stuff will sell on eBay? LOL
They went to Key West for vacation I take it! Know where you are coming from, but at least they thought of you! Have you thought that they may not like you? Female In-laws have this thing about someone taking their precious son/bro away! Thank gawd I do not have this problem, they seemed glad to get rid of him.......21 yrs later I see why;)
