Sechseläuten, Zurich spring festival with parades and burning of the «Böögg»: Sechselauten, a traditonal spring festival of Zurich celebrated every year by the guilds and local public of the city. The festival will be celebrated on 15th April, 2012 (Sunday) to 16th April, 2012 (Monday). Every year on the first day of the fest, people dressed up in colorful and bright clothes, take out a grand procession. The actual events starts from the next day (Monday this year) when people in historcal guild costumes, 30 marching bands, 50 carriages and 500 horses, parade the city centre of Sechselauten-Platz on the Lake Zurich. Later in evening people fix the 'Boogg' ( a symbolic snowman) on the bunch of wood, and set the snowman on fire. It is believed that, the faster the head of the idol catches fire and explodes, the better the summer will be.
