Fine silver which is the purest form of silver is 99.9% silver and is found to be very soft and malleable and is not suitable to use for it will easily get bent out of shape and more prone to damage.
Sterling silver is a mixture of silver and copper with a silver content of 92.5% and 7.5% copper or it can be other metals, it is mixed with these metals to make it hardy and strong and with its high silver content it is highly prized.
Vermeil is when silver is used as a base metal for gold wherein the silver metal is covered with at least 10k gold with 10k as the least amount. It is silver, gold and other precious metals combined. Silver first covered in nickel or other metals before gold is also vermeil, as long as it is proven to have a silver content.
Nickel Silver is a combined metal of copper, nickel and zinc with no silver metal in it whatsoever but got its name because it gives a silvery appearance, nickel silver is also used as base metals for silver.
Silver Plating is when nickel or other metals are used as bases then covered in pure silver, cheaper than silver and durable but there's a possibility of the silver layer chipping away.
