Can i retro-fit a turbo onto an '89 escort gt?
What all do i have to do, and how much would it cost, NOT INCLUDING the turbo assembly and wastegate. it doesn't have a turbo in it. 1.9 285k miles. rebuilt engine and tranny in june '06 perfect condition. project car. im wanting to add one, if you did not here..
The question is... why would you want to, since your engine is pretty beat up already, and adding a turbo will just hasten its demise? EDIT: Well, I don't recall any year that Escort had a factory turbo, not even in Europe, so you will *have* to go aftermarket. As someone else said, the Merkur turbo motor MAY be able to fit in the engine bay, so wholesale swap may be possible, or just strip the turbo and the electronics off of one and try to fit it? Then you'll probably need different headers and mounting points due to different plumbing... It's impossible to say. Probably easier looking for aftermarket turbo systems instead.
