Would you notice the lack of connection, even if you hadn't discovered them yet? Or would you just continue on like usual, and try to find a suitable replacement for your mate?
It is believed that you would be freed from any connection. You won't find a soul mate unless you are a match for someone not yet bound. In which case you may find yourself with a much younger mate. However, if that does not happen(and it is highly unlikely to) you may still find happiness or at least contentment with another unbound soul. Some of us would immediately notice the severing of the connection, some would only gradually become aware of an emptiness, most would never know.
