Linkin Park Biography - A Short Tribute
Any great fan of American rock music would definitely appreciate a good read of the Linkin Park biography. In 1996, the band was formed in Agoura Hills, California. They experienced their first break into the international music scene in 2005 when they released their first album, 'Hybrid Theory', which was taken from one of their previous band names. The album was certified diamond record by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
When they first got started, they were then composed of Rob Bourdon, Mike Shinoda, and Brad Delson. The trio were high school friends who shared the same musical styles and ambitions. When they finally decided to start their own band, they recruited, Joe Hahn, Mark Wakefield, and David Farrell.
And similar to other bands, they also went through a series of difficulties in finding a record company to get serious with them and give them a record deal. This eventually caused some problems between the members that eventually led to Farrell and Wakefield leaving the group.
Wakefield was their vocalist then and so they needed an quick replacement for him. They found one in the person of Chester Bennington. On March 1999 Bennington became an official band member. It was also about this time that they decided to change their name from Xero to Hybrid Theory and soon to Linkin Park. After many tries with getting a major record label to sign them up, they finally got lucky with Jeff Blue who was then vice president of Warner Bros. Records. Jeff was able to sign them up for a record deal which resulted to the band's debut album in 2000, 'Hybrid Theory'.
The album was a sweet success for the group because it contained almost a decade of their works that were not able to get published. The album sold over 4.8 million copies. With their hit single, 'Crawling', the band won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. They were also nominated for two other Grammy's, for Best Rock Album and Best New Artist. This is a rare feat for a band to achieve with just their debut album. Needless to say, the awards helped sell more albums and launched the group into the awareness of the global rock music scene. Linkin Park merch also started to appear.
Other successful albums followed. On March 25, 2003 their second album, 'Meteora', was released. The name was taken from the rocky region of Meteora in Greece.By the end of that year, the album sold over 3 million copies and also immediately went to the number one spot.
Their next album was the 'Minutes to Midnight' which was released on the 15th of March, 2007. It took the band fourteen months to finish it. The album has since sold over 8 million copies.
Their most recent album was the 'A Thousand Suns' which was released on September 2008. It was a concept album which deals more about nuclear warfare and themes of war. It mainly garnered mixed reviews from the critics.
This is without a doubt an incomplete Linkin Park biography because we can expect greater things from this one of a kind band. With their specialties ranging from rap rock, alternative rock, to hip hop and nu metal there will certainly be other fruitful endeavors the group would undertake.
