Deceased Estate  by Jacob Vah
Curiosity got the better of you and you have decided to go to the auction of the deceased estate of the late pop star. You read in the newspapers that the pop star’s last will and testament declared that all his earthly goods need to be sold on auction and the proceeds divided up going to various charities and animal protection services. You wonder about what will be sold at the auction.
First up were all the music paraphernalia. There were guitars, keyboards, CD’s, recording equipment, posters, some visual recording equipment as well, and lots more. The whole collection where divided into sub divisions and auctioned off, adding to the pot that would go to the charities. You whistle each time at the price a sub division gets sold.
The next were all the deceased’s cars, some luxury cars such as an old Bentley convertible and an Italian sports car, then there were and some normal family cars, such as a Ford sedan and a minibus. The minibus was obviously used for music concert tours a lot, but still in pristine condition. The old Bentley convertible was bought by an avid car collector from across state, who was at the auction with a flat bed truck, so sure was he that he would buy the car.The collector also bid on the Italian sports car, but not as enthusiastically as on the Bentley. There was also a motorcycle of formidable proportions. This was sold at what seemed to be a very abnormally high price, but I heard people saying that the particular motorcycle was a specialty bike and very rare and uncommon.
The furniture was an eclectic collection and room by room’s furniture was sold separately. The recording studio’s stuff went with the music paraphernalia, but the rest of the furniture were auctioned off room by room. The furniture ranged from very conservative pieces like the study’s desk, which was old and huge and made from Rhodesian Teak, to some really weird and wonderfully looking pieces. There were lots of ornaments, statues and awards, Persian rugs and original paintings as well.
One room’s equipment that created quite a stir, was the stuff from the gymnasium. You could really furnish a very modern gymnasium with all the stuff coming on auction. The auctioneer explained each bit of equipment before stating that the opening bid would be $500,000. Strongly inhaled breaths could be heard all over. What made the collection of equipment so special? For the amateur’s eye, one wouldn’t be able to tell but the experts pointed out several pieces that were quite expensive. There were treadmills, rowing machines, weight press benches,a punch bag, exercise bicycles (several of) weights, dumbbells, machines that specialized in backs, torsos, legs, arms, abdomen etc.It also included scales, heart rate monitors of varies kinds, gymnasium balls, exercise mats, stop watches, etc.
Now you wonder, while you stare at the stuff on auction, what would your deceased estate’s auction look like, if that ever should happen? Clearly you don’t even enough to make the auctioneer say that the opening bid would be on $500,000!
