The Russian climate is clearly for those who love the winters. The best time to come to Russia is during the summer when days are generally warm, sunny and ideal for sightseeing. The end of May and beginning of June is a very special time in St. Petersburg, with "white nights" when it practically never gets dark. At these times international tickets on flights to Moscow are difficult to get so planning in advance is a must.

Vyugovey Ice Sculpture Festival - When taking advantage of winters i.e. during Dec-March period, enjoy the annual Vyugovey Ice Sculpture festival taking place at the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics. Spectacular exhibition of ice sculptures intricately-crafted works, illuminated by colored lights are preserved in Moscow's sub-zero temperatures, during the two-month festival. The ice festival is attended by professional sculptors from Belarus, Poland, USA, Finland, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Russia.

Golden Dolphin Festival - This annual festival held in February attracts both local as well as international visitors to Moscow as it unites active water enthusiasts and professionals all under one roof. It is a symbiosis of the art, sport, tourism and recreation. The visitors can buy everything related to water be it flippers or a massive yacht, they can even visit master classes of leading sportsmen. Photographers and operators, artists and sculptors, fashion designers and, actors and musicians, producers and critics - everybody gathers here under one roof to have a good time and do business together.

Maslenitsa Festival -This too, is an annual festival celebrated between 20th and 26th February. Maslenitsa meaning the Butter week is an old folk tradition which is now celebrated in the Christian tradition of Shrovetide pancakes. The week-long carnival that includes riding traditional troikas through the snow-filled streets, parades of Russian fairytale characters, open-air theatre, dancing, fireworks and folk songs keeps all happy and lively. As per the olden days each day of the week-long festivities has a specific theme: Tuesday - Popular Games; Wednesday - The Sweet Tooth's Day; Thursday - The Lavish Day; Friday - Good Mothers' Evenings and Saturday - Good Daughters' Parties.

The Golden Mask Festival - Every March and April the musical theater and opera lovers are treated to the finest Russian theater productions in the city.

By this time the so-called summer starts rolling in and the sale of cheap tickets to Moscow pick up. Many travel agents and sites advertise much earlier for the cheap flights to Moscow so one should not miss this opportunity to buy them especially if Moscow is on holiday itinerary this year.
