Not every homeowner or owner of commercial property installs security lights outdoors. Those that do often place two or three floodlights somewhere on the building and hope this is enough to discourage trespassers and intruders. But when planning exterior lighting, property owners can greatly improve security and safety with the correct use of PIR (passive infrared) sensors to control lights outdoors.
Most of the information available about buying and installing security lighting urges property owners to combine a movement sensor with the fixtures. This can benefit the homeowner or business owner in many different ways. The primary use of security lights outdoors is discouraging intruders, of course, but this system can also help those who need to be at the location on a general basis. Friends, family members and customers will appreciate exterior lighting that turns on when they approach, if only because it will allow them to walk safely and without fear of injury.
What about the idea of conserving money with security lighting? Do not forget that we're discussing lighting for the home that will also work for business organizations. There's no question that this type of lighting provides peace of mind for the homeowner or company owner. A good exterior lighting system could certainly reduce property loss.
There could also be some significant savings in insurance charges. It may be a good idea to consult with your insurance broker or insurance representative about lower premium costs that include exterior lights and property protection systems. Plan a system of security lighting to keep intruders out and friends and family safe. Take some time to survey your garden area to get an idea of where to place the fixtures correctly taking into consideration to prevent any possible glare and problems with owners of adjoining properties.
