Can't really answer about wreaths specifically, but can answer about trees. Artificial trees take a lot of non-renewable plastic to create and cannot be recycled, just filling space in a landfill at some point in their long life. Real trees take carbon dioxide out of the air during their growth cycle and are farmed, meaning that for every tree cut at least one if not mroe a planted in its place. And real trees can be recycled. Most articles suggest real trees are better for the environment overall.
