Tears, shock when South Elgin mom returns from war (Arlington Heights Daily Herald)

A soldier returned home from Afghanistan to surprise her kids at school Thursday morning. Jessica Sassano, 33, hadn't seen her two children, Ariana Flores, 14, and Nicholas Sassano, 6, since Christmas. Ariana said she was in shock when her mother walked into her algebra class. "I didn't believe she was here," Ariana said. "I cried then ran into her arms."
