cat and dog get along better?
i have a 7 week old german shepherd and a 4 year old tabby cat there both females an i was wondering if there was anything to do to help them get alone or is it better to just let them not get along, we just got the puppy a few days ago and she is okay with the cat but my cat witch we had for 4 years doesn't like the puppy at all but when we first got my cat we had a black lab and she loved him and we bring others dogs over all the time and my cat loves them but she only likes them if there male dogs she doesn't like female dogs. any help help them get along not alone (sorry) sorry if this question is confussing thanks for all the answers
I think you should attempt to help them get along but don't force it. Cats usually take a long time to get comfortable with someone new, but dogs will often watch to see how their owner acts towards the cat. I raised both my cat & dog (a sheltie) together. I gave them both affection in front of each other and gave them both treats at the same time. By including them in the same things and petting both (in front of the other), they got used to each other. good luck!
