How do you make a candy cane costume?
i have to be in a christmas play how would i make a candy cane costume any ideas?
Poster board would make a tube, but poster board doesn't bend in two directions so you'd be unable to sit down. A tube of red-and-white striped fabric from shoulder to floor would give you a peppermint stick look. If you really want the crook of the cane there are a few options. One is to wear a backpack like shoulder harness and attach a large 2-D crook from foamcore. This would go up from behind your head and arch out over to your side. The look would be similar to the flatware in Beauty and the Beast. The other idea is to make a foam-filled hood, similar to some of the Whoville characters in Jim Carrey's How The Grinch Stole Christmas. they built a tube out of foam rubber (cutting triangles out of the bottom to allow the tube to bend). This was encased in striped fabric and attached to a hood. You could twist red and white balloons into a crook shape and wear it as a hat. You could do the same with pool floatie tubes, and wear as a hat.
