What do you think about this statement?
Chairman of the equality & human rights commission, has condemned attempts to "brush christmas under the carpet" for fear of offending other religions. Citing cases such as schools scrapping nativiy plays, he says that being oversensitive to minority views can lead to pointless embarrassment. What are your views on this statement? I'd especially like to hear from the minortiy population in the UK. I remember last christmas a town was thinking about not having christmas lights and a tree for fear of offending other religions. A2Z Im not interested in the facts of the religion. What I am saying is that we have celebrated christmas for generations upon generations - why should we raise to the pressure of minority groups and change any thing? Other religions would never change their for us, nor would be expect them to.
i am a pagan, and Christmas does not offend me. people that act like it is the only holiday at that time of the year offend me. people that whine about "the war against Christmas" offend me. Christians that live in America and claim to be persecuted on a daily basis because we will not allow them to force everyone else to follow their belief system offend me. but Christmas is a fun holiday. as are Yule, and Hanukkah. and in truth i celebrate them all. i have friends of all faiths and feel that in shareing our holidays and enjoying them together we all learn a little more about each other and find that at the core our beliefs are the same. NO MATTER HOW MANY GODS WE PRAY TO.
